Quetzal Birdwatching Tour

Tour Rates:

• 1 person: 80USD
• 2 to 5 people: 50 usd Per person
• 6 to 9 people: 40 USD pp
• 10 to 15 people: 30 USD pp

Transportation:

Transportation from San Lucas Tolimán to the Rey Tepepul Reserve in Santiago Atitlán costs 30 USD, with capacity for up to 10 people, including guides.
For groups larger than 10 people, an additional guide will be provided for better assistance.

Observation Equipment (Available for Rent):

• 1 telescope
• 4 additional binoculars available for rent (8 usd per binocular)

Tour Duration:

• Total duration: 4 to 5 hours maximum
• Hike begins no later than 6:00 AM
• Easy-level hike
• At the end, we will visit the Rey Tepepul Viewpoint for panoramic photos of the lake, volcanoes, and group pictures.

Additional Information:

• Before the tour, a client information form is sent (for general client details).
• After the tour, a satisfaction survey is sent to help improve services.

Recommendations for Participants:

• Bring ½ liter of water per person
• Bring snacks or light food
• During the walk, we will observe the quetzal’s habitat and possibly other species along the trail.

Rules Inside the Reserve:

• Follow all instructions from local guides
• All trash must be taken back with us
• Do not contaminate the reserve
• Stay with the group at all times
• Do not cut branches, leaves, or any plants
• Keep silent in designated areas for quetzal observation
• Ask the guide for assistance if needed
• Direct any questions to the guide
• A first aid kit is always available
• All guides are local and fully trained

• Over 7 days before the tour: Full refund minus a 25% administrative fee.
• Between 3–6 days before: 50% refund.
• Less than 72 hours or no-show: No refund.

Date modifications:

• Allowed without penalty if requested at least 5 days in advance, subject to availability.
• Requests with less than 5 days may incur a fee of 10 usd per person.

Weather or forced cancellations:

• If the company cancels for safety reasons (extreme weather, river rise, etc.), options include:
  • Rebooking at no cost.
  • 90% refund if rebooking is not possible.

Company cancellations:

• If canceled for operational reasons (equipment failure, lack of guides, etc.), options include:
  • Full refund.
  • Rebooking or activity change.

Cancellation procedure:

• Cancellation requests must be made in writing via email or WhatsApp.
• Refunds processed within 7 business days after confirmation.
